by Jake Baylor.

My work focuses on gestural action, abstraction over figuration.  In theface of the existential void, I aim to emphasize emotion, drama, turmoil, frustration, despair, love and tenderness rather than form and function.  My technique is to be free of technique.  I paint in the moment, without a plan, and let my thoughts and feelings guide the brush into frantic, rapid strokes, curving and slashing across the page until the feelings subsideand the piece is complete.
